Computing an offset curve to a 3D curve involves the basic problem of normal orientation in space. The same thing is encountered when interpolating surfaces with 3D sweep or skinning methods. Different methods for normal orientation are discussed an this article. A new method is presented for normal orientation on general parametric curves.en_US
